What we restore

The Napoleon the 3rd style as well as André-Charles Boulle style are difficult to restore. These styles are very complex, blendindg brass, bone, pearl and wooden essence intarsia. Because we can actually make intarsia, we can restore these styles (Napoleon the 3rd and Andre Charles Boulle) with a lot of skill and attention.

Restoring veneered pieces requires attention towards the finishing touches/lines. The old sheet of veneer or Shellac is firstly removed from the veneered furnishings. If they lack any pieces of intarsia or veneer we completely restore those. Afterwards the furnishing is prepared to be finished.

Here, at Antic Restore, we use the French Polish technique(see here "French polish"). It requires a lot of skill from the worker. Our main material for finishing is Shellac.

The final result of the painted furnishing is exceptional. The sculptures from the painted furnishing reagin the beauty they had in the first stage of their creation.

Beside restauring furniture we also carry out work that requires golden or silver foil.
